Long Way to Go

This is why I can't fully mourn the death of Rosa Parks. From the Washington Post:

Before he enters a crosswalk outside his downtown law office, Johnnie Bond scans the cars stopped before him. Is there a white woman alone? Will he hear it this time?

Such a tiny sound.

Click.

Like a pistol cocking.

Click.

The sound of a car door locking when a black man approaches.

OK - I'm a black woman living in SF - right now - completely professional and the same thing happens to me...the Wheatina's have lost their mminds.

It's a shame to see the passing of all of the older civil rights leaders; knowing that their is still more left to do. Did they effectively pass the torch? I don't know. Or did we as the younger generation feel that was they gave us was all we needed? I don't know that either.
