David Letterman Serves Bill O'Reilly's Ass on a Platter

Check out this clip of Bill O'Reilly on David Letterman. He gets ripped to shreds, which is pretty funny.

Watch the clip.

It's long (about 12 minutes) but worth it. What I find interesting is that two years ago, there's no way someone as mainstream as David Letterman would be talking about how being in Iraq is a mistake. He may have been thinking it, but he would never have voiced it. So why is it all of a sudden ok to speak out against Bush and the war?

Indeed, I gained a new respect for Letterman that night. He didn't care that his banter with O'Reilly went beyond teasing and was just plain confrontational. The "60% of what you say is crap" line was classic.

Heh heh, what cracked me up was when the cameras pan to Paul Shaffer and he agrees, "Yeah, 60%."

Its amazing how blinded by patriotism people like O'Reilly are. You have Bill admit that we have gotten ourselves into a mess in Iraq, yet his response to that is to support the troops no matter what and not to question what happened.

Yeah, that sounds like nationalistic rhetoric to me: keep your mouth shut, support the government line, and put magnetic yellow ribbons on the rear of your vehicle
